The fifth largest developer in Texas, Ryland Homes, working together with Land Tejas and General Electric's Ecomagination initiative, asked ZeroEnergy Design to improve the energy performance their homes so that they could attain a $2,500 federal tax credit per home.
ZED ran detailed energy models of various scenarios and developed three packages of improvements, including a zero incremental cost package, based on energy savings and cost. The packages and reports enabled the developer to easily select which level of improvement to cost would be most appropriate for their neighborhood of homes.
