ZED offers consulting and design for increased energy
performance for homes and buildings using energy
efficiency recommendations and HVAC design. Data driven
decisions, unbiased recommendations, and full design

Depending on your goals, we can provide a variety of
energy performance packages including: deep energy
retrofit, super insulated, Passive House, cost-
optimal, zero fossil fuel consumption, and net zero
energy. As part of your team, ZED can help the project
achieve ENERGY STAR, Passive House, NAHB Green or LEED
certification.
Energy Modeling
ZED analyzes architectural plans, simulates the energy
performance and operating costs of homes or buildings,
and presents recommendations to achieve your goals, such
as lower energy costs and a reduced carbon footprint. We
are committed to a minimum energy reduction for our
clients of 50% better than required by building code.
Using energy modeling software we address energy
conservation, efficient consumption, and renewable
energy production.
Cost Analysis
ZED energy efficiency recommendations are analyzed using
solid data, including energy prices, projected savings,
real costs from your contractor, available financial
incentives, inflation rates, your borrowing costs,
maintenance costs, and the lifespan of the energy
efficiency measure. Financial analysis of this data
provides a true cost-benefit analysis and clarifies
where your money is best invested for improved energy
performance.
HVAC Design
ZED provides calculations for heating, cooling, and
ventilation systems, specifies and sizes the equipment,
and then develops construction drawings for the
distribution system (ducts & hydronic). Proper sizing
and design result in a right-sized system, lower
equipment costs, longer equipment life, increased energy
performance, and lower utility bills.
